Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Special Edition Report Part 1 Page One

Title Screen with Cloud Strife on his mortorbike. It starts out with the company's logo, Square-Enix, slowly rolling out each letter in the center of the screen. Following that, the words "-Special Edition-" slowly appeared into view. As that faded, FMV sequences from Final Fantasy 7 came into view. It showed not only the Mako reactors but also the Shinra building and the infamous cannon. As the view slowly panned from each reactor to another, they all came to life, bursting with Mako energy. During this time, you hear a child's voice (which turns out to be Marlene) describing the scenes. She explains that although Shinra was harnessing the energy and making life easy for the Planet's inhabitants, there were those who thought that Shinra was eroding the Planet's life away. Marlene went on to explain that there was an elite group within the Shinra military code-named SOLDIER. As she elaborates into that, the infamous scene of Sephiroth walking into the flames came into view. Marlene went on to explain how he was a member of SOLDIER and once he found out about the experiments done on him (injections of Jenova cells), he started to hate Shinra. Very soon, that hatred for Shinra transformed into a hatred for just about everything. Marlene then went on to clarify that the Planet, when threatened with destruction by Meteor, used the Lifestream to push away the danger.

As that faded into view, Midgar (or what is left of it) comes into view. The ruins of the Shinra building and all its reactors follow. All the while, Marlene is still talking, explaining that while the danger has been pushed away, the Planet is still quite mad. A sickness called geostigma has afflicted a great number of the inhabitants and most, if not all, of the orphans. As she describes this, the shot shows the "city center" where a number of vehicles are operating and an even greater number of people walking around. The camera then zooms in on children playing. The angle slightly shifts and a dark alley appears. The shot then goes into the alley when all of sudden, a white cloth falls to the street. As that happens, Marlene appears in a room, tending to an orphan by the name of Denzel. The shot switches to the same white cloth but on a pillow instead of the street.

It is then that the introduction credits starts to appear. As that happens, the scene changes to a shot of an empty bar. There is one lonely girl (who turns out to be Tifa) behind the counter, wiping and cleaning it. As she cleans, a phone starts to ring. Tifa talks to herself and says, "He's not here." All the while, the phone continues to ring. She puts down the rag, walks up a flight of stairs and pauses at the first landing. She looks up to a higher landing to check if Marlene and Denzel are alright. She finally goes into a room, picks up the phone and says, "Strife Delivery Service."

Cloud Strife on his mortorbike after putting on his goggles. As Tifa says that, the shot switches to Cloud, in a desolate field, sitting on Fenrir, listening to his messages on a cell phone. He has a complex looking harness attached to his back. It turns out that Tifa left a voice mail for Cloud, telling him that Reno (of the Turks) is trying to contact him. Cloud shuts off his cell phone and puts it away. As he does that, he looks away and the words "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children -Special Edition-" appear. He then prepares to start his motorcycle when there is a sudden flash and Cloud clamps his right hand down on his left bicep. He appears to shrug it off and rides off into the distance. The scene changes to Yazoo, Loz and Kadaj (the three (3) silver-haired enemies) sitting on their own motorcycles high up on a ledge. Kadaj talking on his cell phone. They watch as Cloud passes them and decide to give chase. Loz and Yazoo shoot off the ledge and approaches Cloud from behind. They quickly catch up to him and a short and small battle ensues in which both attackers ask of him, "Where is Mother, brother?" and "You must be hiding her somewhere." As the battle rages on, Kadaj is still on the ledge, talking on a cell phone.

The battle is short-lived as the next scene shows Cloud riding on a road in a more fauna-friendly environment. As he rides, Tifa's voice appears again, telling him of another message from Reno. He passes a sign with directions to several locations with the top-most one reading "Healin Lodge". The camera then shows Cloud riding along a twisting road that leads to a dome structure located on the top ledge.

Cloud Strife talking with a person on a Wheelchair and white cloak. The next setting puts Cloud in a meeting room with the wheelchair person. The latter goes on to explain that the "Kadaj gang" has been causing trouble and that they were the same people that attacked him earlier. Cloud Strife leaving the room, slamming the door. The angle pans out to show a shot of the wheelchair person and Rude (also from the Turks). He goes on to explain that he is looking for a bodyguard. Cloud proceeds to say that he is but a delivery boy. The former retorts by saying, "You are the only ex-SOLDIER still alive." Cloud replies with, "Yeah, in my head." He opens the door, pauses and asks, "And what's with all this "Mother" thing?" Cloud then leaves and slams the door after him.
